DEPARTMENT OF HINDI

BRIEF HISTORY
The Department of Hindi, Moirabari College was established in 1994. Initially the subject was taught at the H.S. and Degree Level. In the year 1990 Gauhati University accorded permission to the Department to teach Hindi as an MIL at the degree Level. From the 2011-12 session, students were allowed to take Hindi as Major subject under Gauhati University. Hindi as a major subject has been regularized from the 2011-12 session. The Department annually organizes a Lecture program on Hindi Divas. Hindi department also organize one or two certificate courses to enhance students career prospects and also to develop Hindi skill. To improve writing skill of students ‘HITKARINA’, a handwritten magazine is published yearly. The students also prepare a wall magazine annually named as ‘HITKARINA’.

The Department has three permanent faculties and one of them have a Post Graduate Diploma in Hindi translation.

LIBRARY
The Department has a library where it has a good collection of books. In this library there are around 450 books of Hindi. These includes books related to Hindi Poetry, Hindi Story, Hindi Essay, Hindi Novel, History of Hindi Literature, books on famous Hindi writer, Hindi Grammar, Western Poetics, and Indian Poetics.
